Fellowship. Friends. Family.

This past Monday our ministry held their weekly vision night, but this week we had a time of fellowship instead of vision casting about the ministry. We bought oranges, played games, laughed, had fun, made s’mores, and most of all just loved each other. Being part of a ministry that cares about being a family instead of co-workers is such a blessing. An even bigger blessing is the fact that our team is invited to become part of that family.

While sitting around the campfire, Alexa, Jeofrey, and I began to have a conversation about the difficulties that come with leaving ministries every two months, and the struggles our ministry host has dealt with because there is so many goodbyes. Jeofrey put it in a really great way, while we are active in their ministry they are going to embrace us in their family, and when it is time for us racers to leave they open up their embrace. However, they never put their arms down, they leave open the option for the racers to be in constant relationship with them- even if it is long distance. Their arms are always open to embrace us.

Being in this ministry I have seen true community and what real Christ centered relationships look like. Being able to hangout with them outside of the context of ministry is so refreshing. It reminds us that we are humans. We are children of God. There is not always the need to be so serious all the time. There is room to cut up and have fun. What a blessing it is to just be able to have fun. We serve a God who wants to have fun with us, who wants us to invite Him into the fun times. God wants us to have fun, play games, sit around campfire. The best part is, when you do that with other people who love God just as much as you, God is in the center of it all. God still gets all of the glory.

This night was just fun. It was a time of rest after a day of ministry. Alexa, Pato, Jessica, and I took a chicken bus to Cali’s house where the game night was held and on the way we stopped and Jess got us oranges! When we got there we helped finish setting up games and food. We played all kinds of funny games that made us look SO SILLY! My team did not win, but it was so fun it did not even matter. After games we sat around a campfire made s’mores and I had the best conversation with LeAnn, who is on staff with Adventures in Missions, at the Guatemala base and also works with Worship room. We just laughed the whole time- she is one funny chick! Even the car ride home was hysterical and full of interesting moments (you really had to be there).

Overall the night was just awesome and I am so blessed to be able to be part of this family! Thank you Worship Room for embracing us in your family!

  1. Bella Bella! That is a huge part of my testimony, learning Christians can have fun too! Love u girl 💙

  2. Life with God brings us balance – a time to work, to rest, to study and pray, and relax and have fun. What a great example your hosts gave for the rest of the race for saying goodbyes…keeping your arms open! Though some of these people you may never see again in this life, you will definitely get to rekindle the relationships you built in the Kingdom of God!
