A week in the life:

Jeofrey with a heart just as big as his smile!

I have the amazing opportunity to be partnered with Worship Room here in Guatemala. Worship Room was founded by an awesome guy, Jeofrey. Jeofrey and his team are all so on fire for the Lord and hunger for more of the Spirit and to know God deeper and deeper. The team that we are partnered with is not a team of missionaries, they are a family of missionaries, and they have so graciously invited our team into their family.

Worship Room has one purpose in mind: align our hearts with the Word of God. Be in agreement with what God says. This ministry does not do anything until they spend time in scripture to prepare their hearts for the ministry that is ahead of them. This ministry offers a lot of services to the people in its community throughout the week, so here is a little breakdown of what a week of missions looks like for me in Guatemala.

On Monday mornings we travel about 20-30 minutes depending on the amount of traffic on a chicken bus (a school bus that is painted cool) to Antigua where we start our morning at Serve Hope Cafe praying for about an hour or so for the week, pray specific verses, worship for a little while, and ask the Lord to make our hearts more and more pure. Then an incredible couple that serve as worship leaders for Worship Room, train our squad. Right now they are leading us in teachings about what it looks  like to lead a house church and creating a space in your community to invite people to your home and lead a time of worship. After our training we head back to San Antonio to the base, AKA the garden, and we have the amazing opportunity to spend the rest of the afternoon teaching the kiddos of the community English. Then after dinner we head to vision night for Worship Room where we discuss logistics, study the word, align our hearts with the Word of God etc.

Tuesdays we have a Bible study with the Worship Room team at the garden then we divide into small teams to head out into the community to do house visits. Most of the time there are specific families that we visit, but we have also just gone out and asked the Lord to direct our steps to the house that needs Him the most at that moment. Then we break for lunch, and after lunch we spend the rest of the day helping with VBS. We get to love the kids while their teachers get to share the gospel with them.

On Wednesday mornings we have a men’s and women’s Bible study with some of the local missionaries, leaders of the ministries we serve with, and for believers who live in Guatemala. Usually this is in Antigua at the couple’s house who trains our team on Monday. In the afternoon we have another woman’s Bible study at the garden for the mothers of the kids who come to the garden throughout the week. There are also music classes for kids in the community that are led by some of the Hope staff, which are incredibly talented musicians.

On Thursday, my favorite day of ministry, we go to Serve Hope Cafe in the morning and intercede for Israel and just earnestly pray for God’s chosen people and the second coming of Christ. Then we have a free afternoon where we can spend time with the Lord. Around five we come back together at Serve Hope Cafe and we gather as a team and prepare for a night of worship in the coffee shop. This time of worship is open to the public and usually has about 75-100 people in attendance. This is a very Spirit lead time and it has been so amazing to see how the Spirit moves when you invite Him into your worship. This past week I had the honor of being able to intercede during worship and share the gospel.

Fridays, we get our tails kicked in soccer by the youth soccer team that this ministry leads. This team is coached by Carlos, a staff member of FCA Guatemala, and the leaders of Worship Room. We have the opportunity to play against them during practice and run drills with them. Also, every practice has a Biblical lesson attached to it that Carlos and Jeofrey lead. I have also had the opportunity to share my testimony with this group of teenagers which was more than a blessing for me. Then in the afternoons, younger kids come to the garden to play soccer and have another day that is similar to the VBS day.

Saturday and Sundays are our days off where we spend time with the Lord and our team. Most of the time, though we are spending it at house church or at a coffee shop.
