“Some people come into your life for a short time, as angels, to completely change you as a person” – Dean Thompson
Guatemala. The short time that changed me forever.
God being so good has blessed my squad and I with the opportunity to travel to Guatemala as our first country on missions. This country and these people have completely changed me for the better. Though it was a short six weeks, and I am incredibly sad to say “see you later” to these people and this country, I can not leave with out acknowledging all of the ways the Lord moved while I was stationed in Guatemala.
In a short six weeks of ministry and two weeks of debrief and training the Lord revealed so much to me about who I am and who He has called me to be. There was a time in my life where I never thought I would be 23 years old. there was a time in my life that I thought I was created without a purpose. There was a time in my life that I thought I would never be anything more than a mess up and failure in life. These are all lies from the enemy that have had a foothold on my life, even into my walk with Christ. However, over the past eight weeks in Guatemala the Lord has not only rewritten these lies into His truths, but has spoken them in ways that has allowed me to actually believe them. The Lord has put into action Jeremiah 29:11, that He has a plan for me to prosper and not fail. He has brought life to Ephesians 2:10 to life, that I am God’s handiwork created to do the Good works that the Lord has prepared me for. He gave a new meaning to the Psalms that says He deals bountiful with me. In the short time that I was in Guatemala, that Lord completely changed my life.
The Lord put people in my life that spoke real Biblical truth over me and helped me to see just how much God really cares about me. I am so thankful for the short time that I had with the Hope/Worship Room staff and the ways they seek first the kingdom of God.
I am thankful for the short time. A lot can happen in a short amount of time. The Lord can do so much in just a short time. He can defeat death in just three days. Just imagine all He can do in your whole life time.
I was very encouraged by the last paragraph where ‘a lot can happen in a short time’. When we’re dealing with anything that seems long and drawn out, it feels like it’s going to go on forever. However, that’s the perspective the enemy wants us to have instead of seeing it through the lens of eternity where it truly is a ‘short time’. I just listened to a podcast that talked about Daniel, Shadrach, Meschach, & Abednego; David, and Joseph – all who went through very difficult trials, and in A DAY their situation was radically changed and they all were promoted!
I love “He can defeat death in just 3 days!” Powerful!
